Associate Sport Director

About the Role

The Dallas YMCA is seeking an Associate Sport Director for our Semones YMCA. YMCA youth sports encourage and promote healthy kids, families and communities by placing a priority on family involvement, healthy competition rather than rivalry, the value of participation over winning, team-building as well as individual development, a positive self-image and mutual respect for others.

Under the supervision of the Regional Sports Director, this position will provide support as assigned in order to ensure the effective administration of sports programs.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, promote, implement, and evaluate sport programs
• Recruit, train, supervise, evaluate and recognize part-time staff and program volunteers within accordance of policies set by the Association
• Facilitate scheduling staff and payroll
• Keep accurate records essential for the control, evaluation, and reporting of programs to the Association, the Board of Management, and the District Executive Director
• Work with the other Directors on scheduling programs for maximum use of the facilities
• Share in the responsibility of cleanliness, maintenance, field and gym preparation and safety of equipment and facilities
• Develop and maintain timely and accurate information for Association brochures and develop additional promotional materials and social medium communication for all sports programs as needed
• Participate in Association-wide activities, as requested and assigned by the Regional Sports Director
• Serve as ambassador for the YMCA, establishing and maintaining cordial relationships and collaborations with other agencies and community groups
• Oversee maintenance of equipment and inventory control of program supplies
• Participate on staff committees as assigned and attend staff meetings and trainings as required
• Assure that all staff under the incumbent's indirect supervision in the Sports Department understand and comply with all personnel and other policies established by the Association
• Share responsibility for the administration of the overall branch as a member of the professional staff
• Support branch Annual Campaign as assigned
• Perform other job-related duties as requested and necessary

Qualifications

• Good interpersonal skills and a cordial manner
• Must be able to work with members, volunteers, staff and vendors
• Must be able to drive to multiple locations as needed on practice nights and game days
• Evening and weekend hours as assigned
• Experience in Physical Education, Recreation, or related field
• Strong or general knowledge of soccer, baseball, basketball, football, volleyball, and other sports
• Must have a basic understanding of the management of facilities, equipment, and programs
• Currently hold or obtain all trainings and certifications required by YMCA guidelines for this position
• Current driver's license with acceptable record and vehicle liability insurance
• High school diploma required; Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Physically able to move freely throughout the facility and other program sites and the ability to lift 50 pounds
• Frequently required to stand and walk
• Must have visual, hearing and physical dexterity to substitute as a sports referee
• Must be able to speak and write clearly and articulate accurate information
• Required to work evenings and weekends as assigned when programs or related functions occur
