About the role
An interested attorney will join our team and learn Special Education Law through leadership and mentoring. Our team has a robust training program to ensure confidence and support ongoing skill development.
Responsibilities
- Directly handle cases
- Review documents
- Research
- Speak with clients
- Write memos
- Review policies and procedures
- Write and respond to complaints
- Handle motions
- Attend mediations
- Negotiate settlements
- Prosecute matters through hearings and appeals
- Contribute to the firm’s publications
- Present workshops
- Attend conferences and networking functions
Requirements
- Minimum Qualifications: An active license to practice law in the state of California3+ years practicing law in CaliforniaExcellent time managementManage multiple clients and projects simultaneouslyStrong research and writing skillsSynthesize complex legal and factual conceptsCompose high-quality written correspondenceConfidence in communicating with clients, courts, and counsel
- Preferred Qualifications: 4+ years practicing law in CaliforniaPrior defense litigation experienceExperience with administrative law1+ year experience with special education (e.g. IEPs, 504 Plans, CASA)Experience with related areas of law (FERPA, CPRA, Lanterman Act, etc.)
