About the role

An interested attorney will join our team and learn Special Education Law through leadership and mentoring. Our team has a robust training program to ensure confidence and support ongoing skill development.

Responsibilities

  • Directly handle cases
  • Review documents
  • Research
  • Speak with clients
  • Write memos
  • Review policies and procedures
  • Write and respond to complaints
  • Handle motions
  • Attend mediations
  • Negotiate settlements
  • Prosecute matters through hearings and appeals
  • Contribute to the firm’s publications
  • Present workshops
  • Attend conferences and networking functions

Requirements

  • Minimum Qualifications: An active license to practice law in the state of California3+ years practicing law in CaliforniaExcellent time managementManage multiple clients and projects simultaneouslyStrong research and writing skillsSynthesize complex legal and factual conceptsCompose high-quality written correspondenceConfidence in communicating with clients, courts, and counsel
  • Preferred Qualifications: 4+ years practicing law in CaliforniaPrior defense litigation experienceExperience with administrative law1+ year experience with special education (e.g. IEPs, 504 Plans, CASA)Experience with related areas of law (FERPA, CPRA, Lanterman Act, etc.)
