About the role
We are looking for a highly qualified and motivated Associate Scientist to join the neuroprotection and resilience cluster in the Neurology Therapeutic Area for a one-year fixed contract, focused on discovering, validating, and developing therapies for neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and ALS. This position is laboratory-based and will involve executing in vitro and in vivo experiments to identify and test new therapeutics.
Join the engine of Sanofi’s mission where deep immunoscience meets bold, AI-powered research. In R&D, you’ll drive breakthroughs that could turn the impossible into possible for millions.
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain human iPSC-based cell cultures (2D and 3D), including monocultures and tricultures, to support compound and antibody screening activities, modeling disease-relevant and neuroinflammatory mechanisms in the CNS.
- Measure compound exposure from mouse and NHP tissues and assess pathway modulation using biochemical and molecular assays including ELISA, Western blotting, and related methodologies.
- Support in vivo studies aimed at evaluating compound pharmacokinetics (PK) and pharmacodynamics (PD) across multiple routes of administration, including intraperitoneal (IP), oral (PO), and intravenous (IV) delivery.
- Design and execute experiments with scientific rigor; analyze and interpret data; and clearly communicate findings through internal and external presentations, reports, and team discussions.
- Develop new lab workflows, integrating automation and AI where possible.
- Collaborate effectively within a highly matrixed, cross-functional research environment across the Neuro Therapeutic Area and enabling research platforms.
- Contribute to the advancement of novel drug candidates from early exploratory discovery through preclinical development and transition toward clinical stages.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or related scientific discipline.
- Minimum 1 year of relevant laboratory experience in academic, research or biopharmaceutical setting.
- Experience with in vitro models and tools.
- Ability to maintain good laboratory research practice from lab execution to record keeping.
Preferred Qualifications
- Animal Research: Experience working with rodent models and proficiency in tissue collection and dosing.
- Advanced Lab Skills: Experience with in vitro models and tools beyond basic requirements.
- Good organizational and communication skills.
- Willingness to work both independently as well as on a team.
- Interest and enthusiasm to actively participate in daily group and laboratory functions.
