Associate Scientist II, Oligonucleotide Synthesis
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute high-throughput synthesis of modified oligonucleotides using automated platforms
- Carry out the downstream purification and analytical characterization of the synthesized oligonucleotides using instrumentation such as HPLC, LC-MS, UV-Vis
- Optimize and/or develop new synthetic methods to expand our synthetic capabilities
- Effectively troubleshoot synthetic/process issues and independently find solutions
- Analyze and interpret data to improve yield, purity, and process efficiency
- Maintain and troubleshoot essential lab equipment, coordinating servicing and repairs as needed
- Maintain clear, accurate, and timely experimental documentation
- Effectively work with team members to foster communication, culture, and efficiency
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in chemistry or a related discipline with 0-3 years of relevant experience, preferably in an industrial setting.
- Alternatively, Master’s in Chemistry or a related discipline with 1+ years of relevant experience, preferably in an industrial setting.
- Prior experience with solid-phase synthesis (SPS) of oligonucleotides with deep understanding of the mechanisms and processes involved in SPS is a plus.
- Experience with analytical instrumentation including HPLC (anion-exchange and reverse-phase), LC-MS, and UV-Vis.
- Familiarity with laboratory automation (e.g. liquid handlers) is a plus.
- Strong troubleshooting and process optimization skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, good organization, multitasking ability, and the ability to work within a team and independently are required.
- Strong commitment to high laboratory and scientific standards and the ability to maintain a safe, clean, and orderly laboratory work environment.
U.S. Pay Range
$67,600.00 - $101,400.00
The pay range reflects the full-time base salary range we expect to pay for this role at the time of posting. Base pay will be determined based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, and education.
This role is eligible for an annual short-term incentive award (e.g., bonus or sales incentive) and an annual long-term incentive award (e.g., equity).
