About the role
As an Associate Sales Engineer, you will be responsible for direct contact with dealers, reps, and end-users. You will communicate to understand the needs and expectations of each project effectively through orders, quotations, and drawings. You will work closely with Sales Engineers and Managers to process approvals for quotes and drawings, assist in managing projects to completion, and gain knowledge and expertise in configuring custom solutions to address customer needs.
This position reports directly to the Customer Service Manager and is based in Parsons, Tennessee.
Responsibilities
- Backup the switchboard when required, including handling all associated reports.
- Process orders accurately and timely, reviewing each order with Production Control for the best available shipping date before booking.
- Revise quotations and/or drawings as necessary, ensuring pricing accuracy between quotes and purchase orders.
- Provide support for Sales Engineers and Senior Sales Engineers, including quotes, submittal drawings, and order processing.
- Maintain the file room by clearing files off the conference table and organizing them in the correct numbering sequence; box and ship files to the MRD building as needed.
- Distribute bill of lading packets from shipping to CSRs weekly and assist with filing.
- Communicate required information effectively with external and internal contacts.
- Originate or revise quotations and/or drawings to meet project needs.
- Meet with Sales Engineers and/or Manager to gain necessary approval on quotes and drawings.
- Work within a team structure to support a pre-determined territory and provide backup within the team, including chain accounts.
- Provide support to Logistics, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Service, Parts, and Credit departments regarding customer business before and after the sale.
- Work with Product Design to determine how to meet project needs with reasonable equipment design and function through presentation drawings.
- Perform additional duties such as backing up the switchboard operator, order entry, ordering office supplies, covering for the quoter when out of office, and maintaining order in the file room.
Requirements
- Associate degree in business with at least 1 year of commercial foodservice experience; in lieu of a degree, a high school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in commercial foodservice.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret and understand construction documents and specifications, and apply basic math principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to sit for long periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to work in a typical office environment and wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.).
