About the role

The Associate Project Manager assists in the planning, execution, and control of heavy civil construction projects. Key responsibilities include safety and quality control, subcontractor management, materials ordering, logistics, financial reporting, and cost forecasting.

Responsibilities

  • Aid the Project Manager in project planning and execution.
  • Achieve project objectives and comply with policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Create and implement a safety plan and review JHAs.
  • Ensure quality control plan alignment with contract documents.
  • Maintain and update project schedules and deliverables.
  • Review site data and coordinate with administrative staff.
  • Manage project engineers and grade checkers.
  • Represent the company in project meetings.
  • Travel to remote locations for extended periods.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
  • One to three years of experience in heavy civil construction, preferably in project management or field supervision.
  • Experience managing projects in remote locations.
  • Firm fixed pricing contract background.
  • Valid driver's license and qualification to operate a vehicle under the Company's Driving Policy.

Qualifications

  • Technical knowledge of construction concepts and practices.
  • Knowledge of construction project scheduling, subcontracts, and safety regulations.
  • Strong personnel management and enforcement of labor and employment regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work in a multi-business environment and operate a motor vehicle safely.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.

Skills

  • Technical knowledge of various field construction concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of construction project scheduling, subcontracts, submittals, quality control, and safety.
  • Knowledge of heavy civil construction and ability to perform specific functions.
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and construction safety regulations.
  • Strong personnel management skills and ability to enforce Federal, State, and company labor and employment regulations.
  • Knowledge of remote location construction projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Perform under deadlines and adjust work schedule to meet goals.
  • Use computers and software for communication, calculations, and documentation.
  • Read and understand all types of plans and specifications.
  • Organize and maintain a tidy file system and work area.
  • Ability to travel to remote locations for short periods with little notice.
  • Ability to work in a Native Corporation multi-business environment.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule, sometimes including weekends and holidays.
