Associate Program Director, University of Utah Graduate Program in Genetic Counseling

About the role

The Division of Medical Genetics in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Utah School of Medicine is seeking a Genetic Counselor to provide clinical care (40%) and serve as the Associate Program Director of the University of Utah Graduate Program in Genetic Counseling (60%).

Responsibilities

• Provide genetic counseling services in general genetics and/or pediatric specialties clinics under the Division of Medical Genetics, Department of Pediatrics.
• Manage, coordinate, and facilitate all aspects of the University of Utah Graduate Program in Genetic Counseling (UUGPGC).
• Prepare accreditation reports.
• Serve as a course director and teach didactic courses.
• Represent the UUGPGC at national meetings and conferences.
• Serve as a liaison between the UUGPGC and the Graduate School, School of Medicine, and participating departments.

Requirements

• Post-graduate education in genetic counseling (minimum of master's degree).
• Certification in Genetic Counseling from the American Board of Genetic Counseling or American Board of Medical Genetics, or equivalent.
• Current license to practice as a Genetic Counselor in the State of Utah.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of genetic counseling.
• Taught and conducted research in the field of genetic counseling.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Genetic Counseling or related field.
• Experience in clinical care and academic work.
• Ability to manage and coordinate educational programs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
