Overview

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality genetic counseling services in compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies.
  • Cook up and coordinate with healthcare professionals and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Provide clinical guidance to patients and providers, including:
    • Syndrome identification
    • MEDICAL MANAGEMENT RECOMMENDATIONS
    • GENETIC TESTING COORDINATION AND INTERPRETATION
    • Psycho-social counseling
    • Multidisciplinary care planning
  • Identify and recommend research opportunities that enhance patient care delivery and outcomes across the organization.
  • Participate in educational initiatives for healthcare professionals and community audiences.
  • Contribute to the development of the genetics program.

Qualifications

  • Education Required: Master’s degree in Medical Genetics or a related field.
  • Experience Required: Clinical rotations completed as part of an advanced degree program.
  • Certifications / Training Required: Board Eligible or Board Certified Genetic Counselor through the American Board of Genetic Counseling.
  • Knowledge & Skills: Strong knowledge of: Healthcare issues related to genetics, Clinical practice and emerging trends, Regulatory and legal compliance standards, Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, Ability to provide patient-centered counseling and education.

Reporting Structure

  • Reports to: Director of Genetics
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: None

  • Functional Demands: Work Level: Light (moderate energy)
  • Activities may include occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling within defined weight ranges.
