Associate Professor/Graduate & Undergraduate Programs - Helms School of Government

About the role

The Associate Professor will teach in areas of criminal justice, criminology, investigations, administration of justice, and related topics. They will assist in developing curriculum for the residential CJUS graduate program.

Responsibilities

• Teach graduate and undergraduate students in criminal justice, criminology, investigations, administration of justice, and related topics.
• Maintain the integrity of course and instructional programs.
• Ensure teaching aligns with the University's mission and vision for the student experience.
• Create an academic atmosphere of mutual respect and consideration for individual dignity.
• Aid in the development of curriculum for the residential CJUS graduate program.
• Engage in research/scholarship or creative activity as per expectations of respective college or school.
• Perform additional activities involving service to students and their professional discipline.

Requirements

• Minimum 20 years of experience in public safety.
• Demonstrated strengths in teaching and mentoring.
• Organizational skills to complete assignments and tasks accurately and timely.
• Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite and online Learning Management Systems.

Qualifications

• Terminal degree from an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Sociology, Public Administration, or other related disciplines.

Skills

• Ability to teach and mentor effectively.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite and online Learning Management Systems.
