Tulane University School of Medicine’s Department of Surgery, Division of Transplant and HPB Surgery is seeking candidates for a full-time clinical faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The Tulane Transplant Institute has seen remarkable growth and is projected to perform over 250 transplants this calendar year. The applicant will join an established group of four abdominal transplant surgeons, with support from trainees and allied health professionals. The program has a dedicated OR, clinic space, and inpatient unit, and the hospital is developing a centralized DCD unit alongside an OPO Donor Care Unit for brain dead donors.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the academic and research missions of the Tulane Department of Surgery.
  • Perform clinical duties at East Jefferson General Hospital and New Orleans Children’s Hospital.
  • Educate and mentor residents and medical students.
  • Perform liver, kidney, and pancreas transplants, including organ donation with NRP and organ pump technology.
  • Lead living liver donation initiatives (experience highly desirable).

Qualifications

  • Board-certified in general surgery by the ABS (or foreign equivalent).
  • Completion of an ASTS-approved two-year transplantation fellowship by the start date, with accreditation in liver and kidney transplantation.
  • UNOS qualification for living donor liver transplantation surgeon strongly preferred.
  • Experience in living donor nephrectomy preferred.
  • Ability to provide up-to-date surgery case logs from fellowship and current practice upon request.
  • Commitment to teaching residents and medical students.
  • Include three professional references in your CV.
