Job Duties
- Support the liver and kidney transplant programs at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center (BSLMC), Texas Children's Hospital (TCH) and Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center (MEDVAMC).
- Render professional care and services to patients in accordance with accepted standards of care for the surgical transplant profession.
- Provide donor procurement coverage for the liver and kidney transplant programs at BSLMC, TCH, and MEDVAMC as assigned.
- Provide clinical call-coverage as assigned.
- Work in collaboration with other BCM specialties including but not limited to Hepatology and Nephrology.
- Obtain detailed history and perform physical examinations.
- Perform, order, and interpret diagnostic procedures in accordance with relevant health concerns of the patient.
- Prescribe appropriate pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments.
- Maintain records and write orders and progress notes in patient charts as to status, treatments, and procedures.
- Monitor and ensure accuracy of recording on patient medical records.
- Provide follow-up health maintenance care to patients.
- Communicate with other physicians, patients, and family members of matters concerning patient care.
- Collaborate with other providers and practice staff in identifying appropriate patients for care management.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education Required: Doctor of Medicine and completion of transplant fellowship.
- Certification/Licenses/Registration: MD license, American Board of Surgery certified.
