Marketing$110k–$160k/yrFull-time
About the role
23andMe is seeking an Associate Product Manager (or Product Manager, depending on experience) to join our Product team. We are a group of individuals passionate about genetic discovery and aim to enable people to access their genetic information, learn about themselves, and participate in the world's largest crowdsourced research initiative.
Responsibilities
- Navigate the Member Journey: Drive engagement at every stage—from kit ordering and the waiting period to results delivery and long-term retention—partnering across vertical teams.
- Translate Complex Science: Lead the user-facing design and copy that transforms clinical and statistical complexity into clear, actionable insights.
- Stay Close to Users: Partner with our Consumer Insights team to conduct qualitative research (interviews, observation, follow-ups) so your product decisions are deeply grounded in real user experiences.
- Run Lean Experiments: Rapidly ship and test micro-flows, gamification, and in-product nudges to let user data dictate our product roadmap.
- Leverage AI: Leverage AI prototyping and LLM coding tools to build working mockups quickly without getting stuck in engineering backlogs.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Build seamless relationships with engineering, design, research, clinical, and marketing teams—acting as the translator who keeps everyone aligned.
- Champion the Product Publicly: Partner with our social media team to create engaging video content that breaks down complex genomic features and helps educate our community on camera.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field like computer science, computational biology, bioengineering, statistics, or design. Coursework or research in genomics, health, or human-subjects research is a major plus.
- Experience: 0–2 years of relevant experience for the Associate PM track (new grads welcome), or 2+ years of dedicated product management experience for the PM track.
- Experimentation Mindset: A proven track record of testing, learning, and iterating. You have tangible evidence of shipping something, measuring its impact, and changing course based on data.
- Technical & Scientific Literacy: Comfort reading data, writing simple analyses (SQL, Python, or R), and diving deeply into clinical or genomic concepts so you can easily translate them for non-experts.
- Dynamic Communication: You write clearly, can present without slides, and easily adjust your register for audiences ranging from members to clinicians to senior leadership.
- Collaboration: You naturally build relationships across functions and seniority levels, and you know how to hold your ground on product decisions without making it personal.
- Content & Camera Comfort (Plus): You are comfortable on social platforms, have an interest in creating video content, and are open to representing 23andMe on camera to help tell our product's story.
- Industry Exposure (Plus): Experience with regulated consumer products, healthcare, or research is a nice-to-have but not required.
