Associate Product Manager

Job Description Summary

Under general supervision (but works independently most of the time), responsible for helping execute the strategy of the product umbrella as outlined by the Lead Product Manager, Head of Product Management, and Product Executive for the umbrella. Responsibilities include defining the target client segment market, evaluating industry trends, uncovering opportunities, launching products, and conducting post-launch assessments/recommendations. Also involved in supporting new product introductions by creating risk analyses, providing sales support through client/pitching and RFP responses, and reviewing materials. Duties include creating client personas, tracking customer satisfaction, and monitoring capital and expenses.

Major Duties

  • Support discovery and innovation by creating client personas and evaluating competitors
  • Aid in new product planning activities by deriving forecasts, composing product requirements, and establishing future metrics
  • Display a balanced, cross-functional perspective, liaising with the business to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity
  • Support new product introduction by creating the risk analysis
  • Track customer satisfaction, evaluate metrics and KPIs, gauge channel performance, and conduct post-product launch audits
  • Provide sales support through RFP response and review
  • Maintain product materials, maintain product inventory, and key metrics
  • Monitor capital and expenses and rate card alignment across regions
  • Carry out complex activities with significant financial, client, and/or internal business impact
  • Able to serve as a key subject matter expert and mentor to other more junior level employees

Knowledge

  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Experience in constructing/overseeing logical and conclusive presentations
  • Understanding or knowledge of 2-3+ NT products or business areas within an umbrella, mastery of 1+ product, and understanding of client needs and how this impacts the product development agenda/roadmap
  • Good in building key relationships, influencing, and negotiating with clients, partners, and leaders across multiple disciplines
  • Organizational skills to support the Business Unit's goals, resources needed, and to assess and develop the skills of staff
  • Program or project management experience, planning, analysis, design, and governance
  • Knowledge of business strategy development to provide long-term planning and manage the profitability/performance of a major business segment

Experience

  • A College or University degree and/or relevant proven work experience is required
  • Related Industry qualification (e.g. ACCA) is required / preferred

Salary Range

$80,800 - 133,400 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
