About the role

As an Associate Producer at Spectrum News, you will collaborate with producers in the newsroom to craft compelling stories. Your creativity and upbeat attitude will be essential as you tackle sensitive topics and tell character-driven stories. You’ll represent what’s happening in your community and connect audiences with the stories that matter.

Spectrum News is part of Charter Communications and comprises over 30 hyper-local news and regional sports networks dedicated to producing original, unbiased, and high-quality content. We use innovative journalistic approaches, backed by comprehensive research, to engage and inform viewers on essential news, issues, and events in their communities. Our newsrooms publish via TV, the Spectrum News app, and connected television, providing 24-hour news access across multiple platforms.

Responsibilities

• Transform stories from a simple pitch into engaging content that inspires and delights viewers
• Work with colleagues in a collaborative environment
• Connect with neighbors and dig into issues that matter to your local community
• Tell stories across platforms including TV, connected television, and digital

Requirements

• 0-2 years of experience in television news
• High school diploma
• Knowledge of current events, social media, and industry trends
• Strong news writing skills and attention to detail
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
• Willingness to travel within your neighborhood to discover important stories and interact with the community
• Flexibility to work different shifts and adapt to schedule changes

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism or a related field
• Comparable television work experience
• Working knowledge of general office computer software, newsroom software, and basic non-linear editing systems
• Ability to lift up to five pounds

Working Conditions

• Works primarily inside a climate-controlled environment but may be assigned field duties on occasion
• Semi-noisy newsroom setting

Pay

The base pay for this position generally ranges between $20.40 and $43.30 per hour. The actual compensation offered will consider factors such as skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Certain positions may also be eligible for additional incentive-based compensation, such as bonuses.
