Florida Power & Light Company is the largest electric utility in the U.S., providing reliable energy to nearly 12 million Floridians. With one of the nation’s most fuel-efficient, cost-effective power generation fleets and industry-leading reliability, we’re redefining what’s possible in energy.

About the role

Florida Power & Light is seeking a technical individual to be part of the FPL Power Generation Solar Operations Team. The Associate PGD Engineer is responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of large-scale universal solar and/or battery facilities in Florida. This role serves as the site safety manager, ensuring all personnel and equipment onsite are safe and that the site(s) comply with all required regulatory permit requirements.

Under limited guidance, the individual will perform routine tasks to gain experience and familiarity with engineering staff, methods, practices, and programs. After this period, the engineer may independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures, using judgment for adaptations and modifications.

Engineers on the FPL solar team spend significant time in the field (outdoors) troubleshooting and repairing all aspects of solar facilities, including preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, and root cause analysis. The Associate PGD Engineer may also be on-call for East Florida sites, coordinating with the Renewables Operation Control Center, OEMs, vendors, and contractors. This role requires a highly motivated individual with a strong bias for action, capable of working independently and as part of a team.
