Duties
- Aid in payroll processing tasks during each semi-monthly pay cycle and ensure deadlines are met, collaborating with internal departments to resolve outstanding issues promptly.
- Manage payroll processes, including verifying system prorations, calculating retro pay for mid-period new hires, terminations, promotions, demotions, and leave of absence.
- Provide exceptional customer service when addressing employee questions about payroll issues and serve as the initial point of contact; research and solve inquiries.
- Be cross-trained on all critical payroll operational tasks necessary for settlement.
- Initial review and logging of incoming information requests, such as garnishment documents for child support, tax levies, creditor levies, wage and employment verification inquiries, among others.
- Assist in maintaining the documentation flow for payroll updates/changes and audit procedures as needed to keep information up to date.
- Contribute to special projects and other duties as directed.
Requirements
- High School Graduate
- 0 to 2 years of work experience in Payroll
- General knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, and internal controls
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Entry-level Excel experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Ability to produce clear and concise written analyses to stakeholders
- Proactive, confident self-starter with the ability to adapt quickly to shifting priorities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Maintain employee confidentiality and protect payroll operations
- Experience in Workday is a plus
