Associate or Full Professor (Ladder Rank/In-Residence) Division Chief of Child Neurology
About the Role
The Department of Neurosciences at the University of California San Diego is seeking a visionary leader to serve as the Division Chief of Child Neurology at UC San Diego and Rady Children’s Hospital San Diego. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to lead and advance a dynamic, growing division within a top-10 academic institution and freestanding children’s hospital. The selected candidate will collaborate with a large team of pediatric neurologists (currently 24 physicians on staff) engaged in clinical research and trials, basic science research, teaching, and patient care.
The Division Chief will advance the clinical, educational, and research missions of the department through excellence in patient care, teaching, mentorship, and scholarly activities, while maintaining a strong track record of research and publications in peer-reviewed journals. Candidates with interests in pediatric nervous system disorders, program development, leadership, and leading clinical and/or research programs related to Child Neurology are encouraged to apply.
The appointment will be based on the candidate’s background and experience, with series options including 50% Ladder Rank / 50% In-Residence (with secured extramural funding) or 100% Ladder Rank. As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware of limitations on outside professional activities, with clinical moonlighting expressly prohibited.
Responsibilities
- Lead and advance the Child Neurology Division at UC San Diego and Rady Children’s Hospital San Diego.
- Collaborate with a team of pediatric neurologists in clinical research, basic science research, teaching, and patient care.
- Advance the clinical, educational, and research missions of the department through patient care, teaching, mentorship, and scholarly activities.
- Maintain a strong track record of research and publications in peer-reviewed journals.
- Develop and lead clinical and/or research programs related to Child Neurology.
Requirements
- MD or equivalent degree.
- Board certification in Neurology with Special Qualification in Child Neurology.
- Eligibility for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.
Pay
The pay range for this position is $325,000 - $400,000. Salary is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan.
