Associate or Experienced Aerospace Systems Safety Engineer

About the role

The Boeing Defense Air Dominance Division Systems Safety & Mission Assurance organization is seeking an Aircraft Safety Engineer for the US Navy Unmanned MQ-25 Stingray program in Berkeley, MO. The position can be at either Associate (Level 2) or Experienced (Level 3) levels.

Responsibilities

• Leads defining and validating safety, mission success, and airworthiness
• Supports incorporating safety into designs, operations, and procedures
• Makes independent risk and technical integrity assessments
• Assists with anomaly and failure reviews, and their resolution
• Maintains monitoring of mission success events and reports to Division MA Leader
• Supports establishing pre-planned Mission Assurance Independent Reviews (MAIRs)
• Supports DevEx independent reviews and risk reduction activities
• Initiates and chairs special attention MAIRs to ensure product integrity and mission success
• Ensures independence in MAIR teams by identifying and selecting subject matter experts
• Organizes and executes Flight/Test Mission Assurance Readiness Review (F/TMARR)
• Supports Boeing Enterprise Root Cause/Correct actions (eRCCA) on high severity technical failures
• Acts as an independent and proactive conduit for raising questions and concerns related to risks to mission success and product safety

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
• Level 2: 2+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Level 3: 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience conducting Root Cause Corrective Actions (RCCA)
• Experience with Quality and/or Safety Corrective Actions/Preventative Actions
• Experience with Health and Safety Corrective Actions

Qualifications

• Strong background in aircraft systems or Avionic / Software
• Enthusiastic and highly collaborative engineers with a passion for technical details in both hardware and software
• Works well in a team environment
• Ability to apply Seek, Speak and Listen approach to effectively connect and build relationships with teammates and customers

Skills

• Experience in MIL-STD 882, JSSSEH, DO-178/DO-254 standards is highly desirable
• Experience with aircraft design including hardware and software
• Strong critical thinking skills
