Senior Aerospace Systems Safety Engineer

Boeing Defense, Space & Security’s (BDS) Mobility Surveillance & Bombers (MS&B) team is seeking a Senior Aerospace System Safety Engineer to join us in Tukwila, WA. Safety is at the core of everything we do. You’ll interface with all levels of Engineering and Program Management as well as our customers, challenging conventional thinking and identifying potential hazards to our aircraft and crew.

Responsibilities

• Oversee system research and analysis to identify potential or investigate reported flight anomalies, risks, and safety concerns; quantify impact.
• Lead system research and analysis to identify potential or investigate reported in-service fleet hazards, risks, and safety concerns; quantify impact.
• Lead identification of safety and mission assurance issue systemic root causes and recommend corrective actions using industry best practices.
• Lead collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to define, validate, and integrate safety, mission success, and airworthiness requirements; incorporate into designs, operations, and procedures.
• Lead, influence, or review tests, analyses, inspections, audits, and simulations to verify system meets defined safety and mission assurance requirements.
• Lead creation of aerospace safety and mission assurance tools and processes.
• Lead documentation of complex safety analysis, hazard mitigation, validation, and verification activities in compliance with relevant customer and regulatory safety standards.
• Develop safety plan strategies and coordinate safety and corrective action plans with programs.
• Demonstrate safety hazard risk mitigations and control methods to customers and regulators.
• Ensure mission success through execution of Mission Assurance activities throughout the program lifecycle.
• Establish global safety advocacy strategies, training, tools, and methods.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.
• Level 4: 9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of experience in systems, mechanical, electrical, or software engineering.
• 5+ years of experience working across organizations and cross-functional groups to ensure project coordination, implementation, and completion.

Qualifications

• Level 5: 14+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in aerospace systems engineering.
• Experience with system safety analysis.
• Experience effectively communicating, both verbally and in writing, and collaborating on multi-discipline teams.
• Experience working with FAR Part 25.1309 and industry practices like ARP 4761 & 4754.
• Experience working with cross-discipline engineering teams.
• Experience in airplane systems design and/or analysis (e.g., flight controls, hydraulics, avionics, fuels) and/or systems integration.
• Experience collecting and analyzing data from multiple sources, as well as interpreting data and presenting analysis and recommendations to management.

Pay

• Senior (Level 4): $141,100 - $190,900
• Senior (Level 5): $170,850 - $231,150

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility and is for 1st shift.
