About the role

The Control Room is the backbone of the Electric Operations group, requiring individuals who thrive in a dynamic environment and want to be at the center of our Transmission and Distribution networks. As an Associate Operator, you will receive comprehensive classroom and on-the-job training to prepare for this role. This position is part of a job family with a clear progression path from Associate Operator to Operator, Senior Operator, and Lead Operator.

Responsibilities

• Continuously monitor and operate the Transmission and Distribution systems to ensure the highest levels of safety, reliability, and customer service.
• Receive and respond to high-priority calls from Police, Fire, and customers as needed.
• Utilize advanced applications to maintain the network within prescribed limits.
• Analyze trouble orders, establish priorities, and dispatch personnel as required.
• Issue switching orders or perform SCADA switching to alter the network configuration.
• Direct emergency procedures to ensure the safety and reliability of the electrical system.
• Proactively communicate with various stakeholders within the company.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of control center logs and reports.
• Demonstrate proficiency in applicable safety procedures.
• Work collaboratively in teams of three or more, analyzing problems under stress with effective communication and teamwork.
• Embrace a 12-hour rotating shift schedule at our Control Center, with flexibility to change schedules during weather events and other emergencies.
• Work overtime as needed to support company and customer needs.

Requirements

• Associates or Bachelor's Degree, completion of technical schooling (such as in the military), or equivalent working experience with demonstrated understanding of Transmission and Distribution system operations. Related analytical or technical experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Equivalent experience in an electric, gas utility, or control room environment is a plus.
• Maturity to make independent decisions and contribute to a team dynamic.
• Working knowledge of basic computer software (e.g., Microsoft Office suite).
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including inquiry resolution.
• Must successfully pass a pre-employment aptitude assessment and background check.
• High levels of attention to detail, motivation, and accountability.
• Desire to learn and operate new technologies.

Pay

$93,000 - $112,000 a year
