About the role

The Associate works directly with Con Edison and Orange & Rockland operating organizations, assisting with storm response preparation activities and storm response action plans. These proactive efforts incorporate industry best practices and are designed to ensure compliance with the Electric Emergency Response Plan and PSC regulations. The role focuses on integrating people, technology, and process improvements to enhance storm outcomes for both internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Create and/or revise documentation to support existing storm processes and training.
  • Develop training programs and functional exercises to enhance operational personnel in executing designated System Emergency Assignments (SEAs).
  • Collaborate with Emergency Preparedness and other departments to ensure SEAs align with employees' skill sets.
  • Verify SEA training requirements are identified, communicated, and managed.
  • Implement action items from internal and external lessons-learned discussions.
  • Benchmark with other utilities and companies.
  • Assist in developing and implementing storm training programs for external stakeholders, including elected officials and municipal representatives.
  • Facilitate standardization of business processes by building and maintaining networks of key users across all user organizations.
  • Support governance of storm processes across all company organizations providing resources to Electric Ops during ICS event mobilizations.
  • Recommend training for required personnel on all aspects of storm response and associated business processes.
  • Partner with O&R business teams, CECONY Storm Planning & Response team, and IT on business requirement sessions, design, testing, and implementations to ensure alignment between operating groups.
  • Work closely with the CECONY Storm Planning & Response team to facilitate successful execution of company-related applications.
  • Administer access to O&R applications and conduct regular audits of user access.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and at least one year of full-time or internship experience (or at least six months of cooperative or summer internship, preferably in Con Edison/O&R).
  • Strong proficiency in computer applications such as MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, Projects) and other company software systems.
  • Ability to conduct presentations to large audiences.
  • Ability to effectively and positively interact with all levels of management, customers, vendors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Good communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with electric distribution system planning, construction, and operations (preferred).
  • Project management, operational experience, forecasting, and capital program experience (preferred).
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Additional Details

The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
