This position reports to Team Rubicon’s Manager, Operations (East Branch) and is a full-time, remote role based in New England: Connecticut (CT), Massachusetts (MA), Maine (ME), New Hampshire (NH), Rhode Island (RI), or Vermont (VT). The role offers a flexible and non-traditional work schedule, including evenings and weekends to support leadership meetings, video conferences, events, and operations.

About the Role

The Associate, Operations will collaboratively work within their team and on cross-functional teams, managing competing priorities while keeping multiple stakeholders informed. This role involves building relationships with community partners in emergency management, VOAD, and local disaster assistance organizations across New England. The Associate will also motivate and inspire coworkers, contractors, volunteer leaders, and volunteers to enhance Team Rubicon’s service delivery in assigned geographies.

Responsibilities

General Duties

  • Execute Team Rubicon’s strategy to enhance rapid and local disaster response capabilities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with disaster assistance organizations at the state, county, and city levels.
  • Support program delivery of the leadership lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, and development of Greyshirt volunteer leaders.
  • Manage purchasing and expenses according to the Branch budget plan and approve events in the system.

Emergency Operations Support Duties

  • Serve as a key member of the Emergency Operations Team (EOT) during disaster situations.
  • Assume a designated position within the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and perform duties assigned by EOC leadership.
  • Participate in the activation, operation, and deactivation of the EOC, ensuring effective response coordination.

Disaster Response Coordination Duties

  • Provide direct support in coordinating response activities with local, state, federal, and non-governmental agencies.
  • Assist in developing and implementing disaster response strategies, ensuring efficient resource deployment.
  • Facilitate communication between field operations, the EOC, and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of relevant professional experience in the military, disaster response, emergency management, or first responder fields.
  • Proven record of personnel management experience, including recruiting, managing, training, and developing employees and volunteers.
  • Proficiency with technology tools and remote working for coordinating with a large network of staff, volunteers, and external stakeholders.
  • Successful past performance in leading volunteers is highly desired.
  • Reliable transportation for local travel within the assigned area.
  • At least 25% non-local travel to support broader organizational activities within the assigned territory.

Pay

Salary range: $48,936.25 - $72,987.32 per year. The hiring range reflects the anticipated starting point, with compensation varying based on market conditions, cost of living, skills, capabilities, and experience.
