ASSOCIATE NURSE MANAGER (RN)

Job Summary

The associate nurse manager and educator role collaborates with the nurse manager and organizational development leads to coach and guide nursing staff in implementing action plans for quality, efficiency, and excellence in practice. Educator responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating orientation and departmental educational needs.

Responsibilities

• Adopt innovative nursing practices based on evidence
• Effective two-way communication and problem-solving at the unit and organizational level
• Collaborate with the nurse manager on recruitment, selection, orientation, and retention of nursing staff
• Ensure nursing staff compliance with professional development, adherence to nursing standards, regulatory standards, ANA Code of Ethics, peer reviews, organizational and unit policies, infection control practices, and scheduling processes and procedures
• Maintain a healthy work environment using the principles of "just culture"
• Provide input into budget development, utilization, evaluation, and adjustment
• Evaluate clinical nurses as assigned
• Mentor charge nurses and clinical nurses
• Implement changes in nursing practice and/or patient care through shared governance
• Perform patient and employee rounding in collaboration with the nurse manager
• In the absence of the nurse manager, assume nurse manager's responsibilities
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate orientation and educational opportunities for new and established employees

Qualifications

• Graduate of an RN School of Nursing
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• Previous leadership related experience
• Current Illinois Registered Professional Nurse License
• National Nursing Leadership Certification (when eligible)
• ACLS within 6 months of hire
