About the role

The Associate Mechatronics Field Engineer will provide onsite repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance services for CNC machines and related peripheral equipment to FANUC America Corporation customers. This position reports to the Hoffman Estates, IL office and supports customers in Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Wisconsin, and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Responsibilities

  • Provide maintenance and troubleshooting for CNC machines, including servo, spindle drives, and motor systems
  • Investigate customer issues and perform root cause analysis, operating under the guidance of the Supervisor/Manager
  • Participate in structured training programs, including on-the-job and classroom learning
  • Support the company’s commitment to exceeding customer expectations while building effective customer service skills
  • Ensure all quality-related concerns are communicated promptly to the appropriate Supervisor/Manager
  • Manage and control assigned inventory to ensure accuracy and availability
  • Maintain tools and equipment while transporting parts and materials (up to 75 lbs) to customer locations
  • Operate under direction of Supervisor/Manager, who provides detailed guidance and matches assignments to experience level
  • Collaborate with Supervisor/Manager to determine appropriate diagnosis, repair actions, and parts requirements, while frequently working alongside senior-level Field Service Engineers

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Proven experience providing customer support, preferably in a technical customer-facing role or field service environment
  • Familiarity with common electrical components such as relays, circuit breakers, sensors, and motors
  • Maintain tools and equipment while transporting parts and materials (up to 75 lbs) to customer locations
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills in identifying and resolving equipment issues
  • Ability to analyze problems, select preliminary solutions, and adapt approaches as needed
  • Ability to learn quickly and effectively apply new concepts to changing technical environments
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills in CNC systems and related equipment
  • Flexibility in traveling 80% - 90% to customer sites
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license and maintain a personal vehicle for business use, with the ability to travel throughout the assigned service area as required

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Electronics or Mechatronics, Technical Trade School graduate and/or relevant work experience in a related field
  • Two years of relevant experience in a technical customer support or field service environment
