About the role

Participates in the design of detail parts, assemblies, and installations for aircraft structures, mission equipment installations, and mechanical systems installations. Applies basic engineering design and/or analytical theory with understanding of structural analysis for application to integrated system design. Responsibilities include research, development of layouts, preparation of engineering drawings, and coordination of design activities with Tooling, Flight Sciences, Manufacturing, and Production to ensure that designs meet requirements at minimum cost. Designs will be accomplished using world-class, three-dimensional solid modeling CAD tools and work will be performed alongside senior-level design engineers. Mechanical design engineers have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of tasks and aircraft systems across various aircraft platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Design detail parts, assemblies, and installations for aircraft structures and mechanical systems
  • Apply basic engineering design and structural analysis theory to integrated system design
  • Develop layouts and prepare engineering drawings
  • Coordinate design activities with Tooling, Flight Sciences, Manufacturing, and Production teams
  • Ensure designs meet requirements at minimum cost
  • Utilize three-dimensional solid modeling CAD tools

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Aeronautical, or Civil Engineering, or have completed such a degree within the last 12 months

Preferred Skills

  • CAD skills
  • Understanding of basic aircraft systems

Schedule

9/80: Employees work 9 out of every 14 days – totaling 80 hours worked, and have every other Friday off.
