About the role
The Associate Manager of Enrollment plays a key role in growing student enrollment across Rochester by connecting with families, community organizations, and local partners while supporting a seamless enrollment experience from first inquiry through registration.
Responsibilities
- Community Outreach & Partnership Development
- Lead community outreach efforts, including canvassing, tabling, recruitment events, and other activities aligned to the regional enrollment strategy.
- Build and maintain relationships with community-based organizations, businesses, and local stakeholders to expand awareness of Uncommon Schools.
- Develop and maintain a network of community partners that supports student recruitment now and in future enrollment cycles.
- Represent Uncommon Schools at community events and serve as a knowledgeable resource for prospective families.
- Family Engagement & Enrollment Conversion
- Plan and facilitate family information sessions, school tours, open houses, and other events for prospective families.
- Develop and implement follow-up plans that help families move from initial interest to application and enrollment.
- Communicate regularly with prospective families, answer questions, and help address barriers to enrollment.
- Maintain accurate records and follow up with families to obtain missing documentation.
- Support annual lottery preparation, lottery execution, and ongoing waitlist management.
- Aid in additional enrollment projects and initiatives that support Rochester schools.
- Enrollment Operations
- Support the execution of regional recruitment and enrollment plans using data to identify community and school needs.
- Manage prospective student applications, enrollment paperwork, and family communications throughout the enrollment process.
- Assist with additional enrollment projects and initiatives that support Rochester schools.
- Data & Continuous Improvement
- Track outreach, recruitment, and enrollment performance using enrollment systems and reporting tools.
- Monitor key performance indicators and maintain accurate data entry.
- Analyze outreach and enrollment results to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Recommend adjustments to recruitment strategies and resource allocation based on data and outcomes.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with school teams and regional colleagues to coordinate enrollment efforts.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure prospective families receive a consistent experience throughout the enrollment process.
- Contribute to cross-functional projects that improve enrollment processes and family engagement.
Qualifications
- Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- 3–4 years of relevant experience in enrollment, admissions, family engagement, community outreach, customer service, recruitment, or a related field.
- Experience building relationships with families, community organizations, or external partners.
- Experience coordinating multiple projects and managing competing priorities.
- Ability to analyze data and use it to inform decisions and improve outcomes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and common productivity tools such as Outlook and Google Drive.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in K–12 education or a mission-driven organization.
- Experience using student enrollment or customer relationship management systems such as SchoolMint.
- Experience supporting recruitment, enrollment, admissions, or community engagement initiatives.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand or walk for extended periods during community outreach and events. Ability to set up materials and occasionally lift or carry items weighing up to 40 pounds. Ability to travel locally within the Rochester region for outreach activities, school visits, and community events.
Additional Information
- Compensation:
- The full compensation range for this role is $68,600–$80,600.
- Typically, new hires who fully meet the qualifications and experience expectations for the role will start at or near $72,500.
- Starting compensation below this reflects candidates with less experience or qualifications. Offers near the top end of the range are reserved for candidates who significantly exceed the qualifications, bringing extensive experience and specialized expertise beyond what is listed.
- Compensation determinations consider relevant experience and tenure with Uncommon Schools. Additionally, because we value internal growth and tenure, current staff members are not subject to salary caps within this range.
- Work Environment:
- Uncommon is an in-person organization, with a commitment of at least three days each week at our Rochester office with travel.
