Associate Manager, Advertising (Open to Remote)
Job Description
The Associate Manager, Advertising supports the planning, execution, optimization, and reporting of advertising campaigns for Random House Children's Books. Reporting to the Assistant Director, Advertising Strategy, this role partners closely with marketers, vendors, and the Penguin Random House Central Advertising Team to develop advertising recommendations, execute paid media campaigns, manage campaign operations, and analyze performance to drive awareness, audience growth, and book sales.
This role works across two distinct channels: the Random House Kids channel targeting parents, caregivers, and gatekeepers, and showcasing books for children of all ages from babies through middle school readers; and the Underlined channel targeting teen and crossover adult readers and showcasing young adult books across all genres such as romance, thriller, and fantasy. RHCB is home to bestselling authors like Ms. Rachel, Holly Jackson, Nic Stone, Christopher Paolini, Philip Pullman, Nicola Yoon, Karen M. McManus, and classic children’s brands like Magic Tree House, Dr. Seuss, Little Golden Books, and Sesame Street, just to name a few.
Responsibilities
Partner with marketers to develop advertising recommendations that align with campaign objectives, budgets, retailer priorities, and target audiences.
Support advertising planning for key publishing campaigns, seasonal initiatives, and audience development efforts.
Prepare campaign recaps with key performance insights and recommendations for future seasonal campaigns.
Contribute to improvements in advertising workflows, documentation, and team processes.
Support the advertising strategy for audience development and growth across our digital verticals including lead generation.
Partner with marketers on paid influencer campaign strategy recommendations.
Set up, execute, and track campaigns working with creator partners.
Manage the day-to-day execution of advertising campaigns, including reviewing intake forms, maintaining project status, reviewing creative assets, and submitting materials to the Central Team.
Ensure vendor specifications, timelines, and best practices are accurate, current, and communicated to support successful campaign execution.
Track, reconcile, and follow up on missing or outstanding invoices to ensure timely and accurate billing.
Manage campaign updates, drop-ins, cancellations, and grid maintenance, ensuring all campaign information is current and accurately reflected.
Cook up advertising recommendations and workflow requests with internal stakeholders to ensure campaigns move efficiently through the execution process.
Manage weekly campaign optimizations by partnering with marketers to identify timely updates, implement performance-driven recommendations, and ensure advertising budgets are spent efficiently throughout each campaign flight.
Analyze advertising campaign performance across vendors and platforms.
Develop campaign recaps that highlight results, insights, and opportunities for optimization.
Maintain reporting benchmarks and historical campaign performance to support future planning.
Qualifications
3–4 years of relevant advertising, digital marketing, or campaign management experience.
Strong project management and organizational skills.
Analytical and reporting experience.
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration.
Excel/PowerPoint proficiency.
Experience with digital advertising vendors or media platforms (preferred).
Interest in publishing and consumer marketing.
Additional Information
The Penguin Random House national headquarters is located in New York City. The position is open to remote candidates based in the United States who can work primarily on Eastern Time. The salary for this position is $70,500. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
