About the role

Starr Boiler and Machinery Division is seeking qualified and motivated applicants for apprenticeship positions as Associate Machinery Specialists. This full-time role is open to candidates residing within the eastern U.S. holding an engineering degree or a high school diploma with 3 years’ experience in boiler servicing and/or operation of high-pressure boilers.

Requirements

• Clean driving record with a valid driver’s license
• Ability to pass a background check
• Motivated self-starter with good organizational skills
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with clients and coworkers
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Capability to perform internal boiler inspections and pass a fit-for-duty evaluation
• Willingness to travel and stay overnight as required

Responsibilities

• Learn basic boiler and pressure vessel operations and mechanical principles
• Learn ASME, NBIC, and jurisdictional regulations through guided instruction and self-study
• Act as an apprentice to conduct jurisdictional inspections of regulated boilers and pressure vessels, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations
• Perform 300 boiler and pressure vessel inspections under instruction
• Complete knowledge checks and perform practical applications in conducting boiler and pressure vessel in-service inspections
• Demonstrate effective communication skills
• Pass the National Board exam to obtain an “IS” designation within 12 months of employment
