Banking is responsible for the origination, execution, and portfolio management of all corporate banking products and services, including credit, treasury management, and deposits; providing coverage and execution for all investment banking solutions, including capital raising, subscription finance, and mergers & acquisitions (M&A).
About the role
Wells Fargo is seeking an Investment Banking Associate to join its Equity Capital Markets (ECM) group within Corporate & Investment Banking. This Associate will partner closely with the Energy & Power (E&P) coverage group to support E&P clients. Investment Banking Associates are integral to the team, directly involved in the design, origination, structuring, and execution of investment banking products and services for existing and prospective clients. Associates participate in client meetings, due diligence visits, and other client interactions, gaining exposure to key executives and senior bankers. The role operates within a team consisting of Analysts, Vice Presidents, Executive Directors, and Managing Directors.
Responsibilities
- Participate in analyzing companies and client investments
- Make recommendations to clients on investments
- Identify opportunities for process improvements within Investment Banking
- Review and analyze market data, valuation analyses, models, and presentations requiring research, evaluation, selection of alternatives, and independent judgment to guide medium-risk deliverables
- Present recommendations for resolving business challenges and exercise independent judgment while developing expertise in function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements
- Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
- Interact with internal and external customers
Requirements
- 2+ years of Investment Banking Program experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of work experience, training, military experience, or education
Qualifications
- 2+ years of Equity Capital Markets transaction experience
- Experience in the Energy & Power industry
- Strong financial modeling experience
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work effectively, as well as independently, in a team environment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Willingness to work long hours in a demanding, highly focused collaborative, and fast-paced team environment with a sense of personal accountability and urgency for achieving results
Job Expectations
- Registration for Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) exam must be completed within 90 days of hire date if not available for transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted
- Registration for FINRA Series 63 (or 66) must be completed within 90 days of hire date if not available for transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted
- Registration for FINRA Series 7 (or 79) must be completed within 90 days of hire date if not available for transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted
- This position is subject to FINRA background screening requirements. Candidates must successfully complete and pass a background check prior to hire. Individuals subject to statutory disqualification are not eligible to be associated with a FINRA-registered broker-dealer
- Successful candidates must meet and comply with ongoing regulatory obligations, including periodic screening and mandatory reporting of certain incidents

Pay
New York City-Pay Range: $175,000-$200,000. Pay range reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities ranging from $150,000 to $250,000.
