Associate Instructor - Welding (*Restricted*)
About the role
The Associate Instructor position is a restricted appointment with an instructional load of 33 to 39 credit hours and 39 to 49 contact hours over the academic year. This position is relieved of most administrative and governance duties to spend time in student support and student success related activities.
Responsibilities
- Provide quality instruction for students.
- Work with students in classrooms, laboratories, individual conferences, and related activities.
- Help students develop their interests and abilities to their fullest capacity to become better workers and better citizens.
- Teach the prescribed courses of study with the established texts.
- Conduct requisite student conferences.
- Hold required office hours.
- Adhere to the statement on professional ethics in accordance with college policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Answer emails in a responsible fashion.
Requirements
- Knowledge and hands-on experience with SMAW, GMAW, GTAW processes.
- OXY-Fuel and plasma arc capability.
- Machine set up and troubleshooting skills.
- Demonstrate welding ability.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer skills – Microsoft Office Suite.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Five years of full-time occupational field experience in welding.
- Part-time experience will be converted to its full-time equivalency.
Skills
- Canvas or other LMS experience.
- Experience teaching in classroom, hybrid, and online formats.
- Experience teaching students from diverse language backgrounds and varying levels of proficiency.
- Experience in CNC Plasma Table operation and advanced fabrication techniques.
Benefits
Starting salary is commensurate based on education, experience and other appropriately qualifying factors within assigned level and will fall within the specified hiring range for the assigned level. Associate Instructor level is determined by education and academic teaching experience. The hiring range for Associate Instructor I is $50,000 to $67,000. The hiring range for Associate Instructor II is $65,000 to $87,000.

Starting salary is commensurate based on education, experience and other appropriately qualifying factors within assigned level and will fall within the specified hiring range for the assigned level. Associate Instructor level is determined by education and academic teaching experience. The hiring range for Associate Instructor I is $50,000 to $67,000. Work schedule is determined based on instructional needs during the semester.
