About the role

The HR Operations team supports the strategic execution of human resources strategies across 50+ distribution centers, focusing on areas such as Talent Development, Workforce Planning, Talent Selection, Engagement, Recognition, Performance Management, Organizational Development, Training, Associate Relations, Compensation, Benefits, Wellness, Risk Safety, Labor Relations, Sustainability, and Philanthropy.

Responsibilities

  • Builds effective working relationships with business leaders and partners with supervisors to develop coaching skills and techniques.

  • Provides coaching to individual contributors with the goal of making others successful.

  • Participates and collaborates in supervisor, management, and staff meetings.

  • Identifies training needs in the DC through collaboration with other departments and suggests new HR strategies.

  • Works with the HR team to execute the workforce and talent agenda that attracts the right people in a competitive market and drives enterprise productivity, in partnership with Talent Acquisition.

  • Implements effective onboarding plans for the successful assimilation of new hires and conducts new hire orientation.

  • Delivers training programs as assigned.

  • Stays informed about company culture and ensures associate questions are promptly and courteously resolved.

  • Implements associate engagement events and activities as assigned.

  • Addresses associate concerns with open communication techniques and communicates with associates in a timely and courteous manner.

  • Executes HR activities and programs, applies HR policies and procedures, implements Affirmative Action Plan, and manages personal development.

  • Maintains and updates HRIS records and associate files, manages and tracks leaves of absence, and maintains high levels of confidentiality.

  • Leverages the network for learning when encountering new challenges.

  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred.

  • PHR/SPHR/CHRL/CPHR Certification preferred.

  • 1+ years of HR experience, or related field required.

  • Working knowledge of Federal, state/provincial and local employment laws.

  • Basic understanding of talent acquisition techniques, including recruitment, interviewing skills, and selection.

  • Basic understanding of compensation and benefit policies and programs, employee relations practices.

Compensation: UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position. Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements.
