About the role

The Associate will analyze, evaluate, structure, underwrite, and close potential life insurance lending opportunities. This position requires the ability to work independently with limited day-to-day supervision. We value smart, hard-working, and creative candidates—prior experience in this exact field is not required to succeed.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate senior and unitranche financing requests to determine credit quality and appropriate loan structures.
  • Identify specific merits, risks, and mitigants for each transaction.
  • Construct and maintain detailed financial models and develop sensitivity analyses.
  • Generate internal approval memoranda and term sheets.
  • Perform market, industry, and sponsor due diligence.
  • Ensure business terms, concepts, and structure are accurately captured in loan documentation.
  • Assist in all aspects of origination activity leading to the closing of new transactions.
  • Follow all established policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • 3-4 years’ experience in investment banking or structured lending (premium finance lending preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or Master’s degree preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy—work is subject to regulatory scrutiny.
  • High level of trust, professionalism, diplomacy, and conceptual judgment.
  • Superior interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • Creative and strategic thinker capable of analyzing information to identify trends and draw conclusions.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate cross-functionally in a team environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of banking, financial, or insurance business operations, industry trends, and applicable federal/state banking regulations.
  • Meaningful experience with financial modeling.
  • Knowledge of multiple lending asset and loan collateral classes.
  • Advanced understanding of accounting and finance, including financial statement analysis.

The base salary offered is determined through a review of education, industry experience, training, knowledge, skills, and abilities, aligned with market data and other factors.
