About the role
This role is responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of a natural gas compressor station and pipeline system to ensure safe, reliable product flow and full regulatory compliance. Duties include operating the compressor station on a rotating schedule, responding to callouts during assigned operating weeks, and participating in an area-wide on-call rotation for emergency or abnormal operating conditions.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain natural gas compressor stations and pipeline systems.
- Respond to callouts and participate in on-call rotations for emergencies.
- Identify and report abnormal or unsafe conditions; complete accident and near-miss reporting.
- Support emergency response efforts and perform regulatory compliance activities.
- Conduct equipment maintenance and repair in accordance with DOT regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
- Handle natural gas related to reciprocating/turbine compression equipment and pipeline networks.
- Perform preventative maintenance and compliance inspections (e.g., meter stations, corrosion control, valves, leak surveys, right-of-way areas).
- Manage facility encroachment activities (e.g., pipe locates, excavations, inspections).
- Acquire Operator Qualification (OQ) tasks and assist at other work locations as needed.
Requirements
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of personnel.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and project prioritization skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft programs and ability to read/follow company procedures and manufacturer guidelines.
- Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. for a minimum of 50 feet.
- Ability to operate valve control wheels with a minimum of 50 turns.
- Ability to work alone in extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, muddy, wet).
- Valid driver’s license; ability to operate an all-terrain vehicle.
- Strong commitment to personal and team safety.
- Must reside within 30 miles of the Greenville, KY Compressor Station.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Gas pipeline, compressor station, or storage field experience.
- Mechanical or electrical experience.
- Technical school or college education.
Schedule
Normal work hours are 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. weekdays, subject to change. Occasional call-outs and schedule adjustments may be required.
