Associate/Engineer/Senior Engineer - Electric Transmission Reliability
About the Role
Dominion Energy is committed to providing reliable, affordable, and increasingly clean energy. This position offers a hybrid 3‑2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days teleworking). Military service members and veterans with ranks E5–E9, W1–CW5, or O3–O6, plus an appropriate equivalent combination of education and experience, will be considered. Associate Engineer – Entry or developmental level position providing engineering support in a designated company area or specific engineering discipline. Performs engineering calculations, analysis, research, and design under direction of a supervisor or work leader. Assignments are routine, designed to develop professional engineering knowledge and familiarity with techniques, practices, and engineering systems. Limited exercise of judgment on details and preliminary selections of engineering alternatives.
Engineer – Fully competent in all conventional aspects of the subject matter. Second‑level position providing engineering support, performing and/or reviewing engineering calculations, analysis, research, and design. Provides cost analysis and develops recommendations (e.g., equipment upgrade costs) for management review. Distinguished from Associate Engineer by increased complexity in application of engineering skills. Exercises independence in evaluating, selecting, and applying standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. Uses independent judgment in prioritizing and making moderately complex adaptations. Assignments have clear objectives and require investigation of a limited number of variables.
Senior Engineer – Top progression level in the Engineer series. Includes senior to technical expert engineers capable of difficult, complex work requiring thorough subject‑matter knowledge and significant experience. Schedules and coordinates major segments of complex projects to meet cost and time objectives. Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in independent evaluation, selection, adaptation, and modification of standard techniques. Devises new approaches to problems and develops engineering criteria ensuring compliance with design standards. At higher proficiency levels, provides technical expertise and/or team leadership, guides less experienced engineers, and may apply intensive, diversified knowledge to major projects with significant program impact. May serve as a technical expert on engineering‑related legal and regulatory issues to outside entities.
