Engineer or Senior Engineer (Electric Transmission Reliability & Power Quality)
Job Summary
We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.
Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined below will be considered for this opportunity.

Job Activities
- Develop programs to enhance the reliability performance of the Electric Transmission Network. Follow up with field and engineering teams to ensure programs are being executed, analyze and document the program’s results.
- Cook with and provide technical assistance to various engineering and field teams to identify and communicate when equipment is negatively impacting the BES.
- Deliver technical feedback to internal and external customers when needed.
- Manage data submittals for both regulatory requirements and voluntary industry benchmarking opportunities. Stay engaged with regulatory data collection requirements as well as trade and industry organization activities.
- Absist and participate in the equipment failure root cause analyses.
- Participate in various company teams and industry-level organizations to enhance Electric Transmission’s system reliability performance.
- Participate in trade and industry organizations and benchmarking activities.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
- Engineer - 2+ years of relevant engineering experience
- Sr .Engineer - 5+ years of relevant engineering experience
- Understanding of AC fundamentals, including an understanding of three-phase power systems.
- Understanding of the principles of transmission and distribution relay protection.
- Strong data management and analysis abilities including large data extraction and querying skills.
- Strong Microsoft Access, PowerPoint, Excel, and SQL Server abilities.
- Programming skills for automation of system studies preferred (e.g., Python, .NET, C#, etc.).
- Programming skills for webpage development (HTML, Javascript, SQL)
- Equally effective working independently or in a team environment
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including technical writing
- Strong time management skills with the ability to independently plan and organize work assignments
- Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems
- Ability to interpret codes, regulations, and practices
Engineer Education
- Required Degree (equivalency not accepted in lieu of required degree): Bachelor’s In Engineering
- Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program based on the year that the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
- Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or
- Possess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math, or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited based on the year the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
- Hold or have previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.
Licenses, Certifications, or Qualifications
Note: Dominion Energy minimum experience and education requirements may exceed stated ANSI standards and candidates must meet the Dominion Energy minimum requirements.
For Nuclear employees, this ANSI standard must be met, all of which is met or exceeded in the Engineer series job summaries with the exception of the Nuclear Power experience requirement of at least 1 year:
- ANSI/ANS-3.1-2014, Section 4.6.1 Education requirements: Baccalaureate or associate degree in engineering or related science.
- Minimum experience for the position: Related experience which shall include 2 years; Nuclear power plant experience to include 1 year.

- Expected Hiring Base Salary Range:
- Engineer: $81900 - $106400
- Sr Engineer: $90900 - $118100

The actual salary offered may vary based on factors such as the selected candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience, and work location.
