Associate Engineer - 2027 Leadership Development Program

Avient’s Engineering Leadership Development Program accelerates professional development by placing participants in multiple engineering-related roles during a two-year rotational program across different manufacturing sites. Individuals gain hands-on experience through two or more rotations, developing key technical, change management, and leadership competencies while supporting projects that add real value to the business and improve critical manufacturing processes. Rotations may include process, project, reliability, and/or quality engineering. Participants will complete Lean Six Sigma Training and certification, build relationships with site associates and leaders, and receive mentoring from program and business leadership. Upon completion, individuals are placed in a full-time role aligned with their personal and professional goals and Avient’s business needs.

Responsibilities

• Develop, design, and communicate manufacturing processes.
• Monitor and revise processes to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and cost savings.
• Research current and emerging technologies; evaluate process safety, quality, and cost for new process development.
• Identify and solve issues with processes and equipment; troubleshoot causes and coordinate maintenance, production, and other resources to implement cost-effective solutions.
• Manage capital project activity for the specification and installation of new equipment.
• Lead change management projects to drive process improvement.
• Interact with senior management, build global relationships, and contribute to Avient’s future success.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
• 1+ years of experience preferred (including prior co-op or internship experience).
• Must graduate by the program start date, but no more than one year prior.
• Willing to relocate and travel.
