Associate Electrical Engineer - Parsippany

Responsibilities

• Prepare and modify drawings, specifications, calculations, charts, and graphs; monitor work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, and EAD standards
• Electrical design with primary responsibilities of power, lighting, and grounding per client requirements
• Provide studies of power quality, short circuit, coordination, and arc flash hazard analysis
• Development of capital expenditure cost estimates for design/build projects
• Coordinate with other internal team members on multi-discipline projects, including architects, mechanical, process, civil, and structural engineers
• Work with designers and drafters to produce detailed designs
• Resolve design and development problems
• Deliver quality construction documentation – specifications, schematics, power and lighting plans, one-lines, etc.
• Interface with clients, utility companies, construction administrators, project team, and vendors
• Participate in discipline-specific and company-wide business development
• Perform and document technical design reviews with other disciplines on the project team
• Adhere to all EAD's safety standards and practices
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

• B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
• 3 years' experience in electrical design of industrial and commercial projects
• P.E., F.E., or commitment to obtain F.E. within first 12 months required; desire to obtain Licensed Professional Engineer certification
• Knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals
• Organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with clients and in-house support staff
• Proficient with Excel spreadsheets
• Strong attention to detail
• Self-starter
• Valid driver's license
• Proficient in Microsoft Office

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of the NEC, NFPA, and IEEE standards

Working Conditions

• Office, plant, or client site environment
• Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods
• Ability to walk up numerous flights of stairs/ladders multiple times a day and/or work in tight spaces in extreme conditions
• May work near moving mechanical parts and equipment
• Office, commercial, and/or industrial setting with potential exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
• Periodic weekend, holiday, or evening work as needed
• Travel and/or field experience required

EAD will provide training, administrative/engineering controls, and personal protective equipment, as necessary.
