About the Role
The Electrical Engineer demonstrates a broad grasp of the technical and administrative aspects of electrical engineering techniques and principles. Projects assigned are complex, involve multiple variables, and can be cross-functional. Individuals in this role prepare effective communications across the organization and aid in problem resolution specific to assigned programs/projects.
Responsibilities
- Develop solutions and implement projects that improve the process and focus on providing electrical and programming logic expertise
- Diagnose and troubleshoot programming, electrical, and process issues
- Create and modify programming logic systems and code to support and improve the process
- Conduct tests to confirm necessary programming and equipment changes
- Work with operations, engineering, maintenance, and other technical resources in a group and drive results
- Analyze and modify blueprints, schematics, and drawings of electrical systems
- Lead and/or monitor the electrical work of outside contractors (e.g., electrical system upgrades, expansions) to ensure projects are satisfactory and completed in a timely manner
- Complete project responsibilities for design, specification, review, and development of electrical equipment or systems
- Apply working knowledge of industrial wiring, controls, and instrumentation
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related degree
- Working knowledge of PLC and HMI setup and programming
- Working knowledge of AC and DC drives troubleshooting and setup
- Working knowledge of tuning and calibration of PID loops and controls
- General knowledge about networking
- Ability to troubleshoot complex process problems
- Ability to self-learn new hardware/software platforms
- Ability to work in a multi-level organization which operates 24/7
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment, utilizing clear and effective communication skills
- Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment
- Able to manage several projects at a time and make timely and accurate decisions
- Knowledge of Microsoft applications, computer skills, and data analysis skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Two or more years of related experience in manufacturing
- PLC design, programming, installation, and troubleshooting experience (Siemens PLC Series 5/7 is a plus)
- Experience with Siemens Masterdrives
- Experience with IBA PDA
- In-depth knowledge of power distribution equipment
