Responsibilities
- You will be part of a team helping to resolve complex matters that pose a threat or disruption to normal operations for our clients.
- You will perform directed research, conduct financial, valuation, and/or damages analysis, and provide litigation support.
- You will develop an in-depth understanding of the client, the industry, and the case to surface and address key issues, from the big picture to the smallest details.
- You will help to develop presentations and reports to effectively communicate the analyses, findings, and insights to the client and/or Court.
- Some of the main responsibilities include:
- Working on high-profile and complex matters that incorporate valuation concepts and tools, including conducting data analysis and valuation modeling.
- Working closely with Managing Directors, Senior Directors, Directors, and Managers to identify and provide any needed project support.
- Providing support on complex accounting and valuation related matters and disputes (example project types include investigations, forensic accounting, damage calculations, solvency analysis, settlement models, post-acquisition disputes, and general litigation support).
- Conducting research, synthesizing information, and developing reports for high-profile clients.
- Aiding in researching technical and industry-specific issues.
Qualifications
- 1 to 5 years of experience in valuation, public audit, and/or a forensic and dispute consulting practice.
- A valuation certification such as ASA/MRICS (or equivalent certification) is desired.
- A CPA designation is preferred.
- Knowledge of financial statement entry and analysis, KPI development and benchmarking, comparative analysis, and financial forecasting development (three-statement modeling).
- Experience working on various types of complex valuation matters including restructuring (e.g., solvency) and support conclusions for key assumptions.
- An applied understanding of valuation approaches including market (guideline, transaction), income (DCF, capitalization of earnings), cost/asset, and premise of value (going concern and liquidation).
- Experience in performing financial statement analysis including the use of trend, common-size, and ratio analyses.
- Experience in three-statement financial modeling, scenario stress modeling, and creating models from scratch.
- Ability to create discount rates using BUM, CAPM, and WACC.
- Practical working knowledge of control premia / minority interest discounts, as well as NAV and DLOM development via OPM frameworks.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel for purposes of extensive data analysis and valuation modeling.
- Prior practical or analytical experience in the real estate industry or exposure to real estate appraisal is considered an asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
- Advanced proficiency with market intelligence platforms (S&P Capital IQ, Bloomberg etc.).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Effective interpersonal and team management skills.
- A high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- The ability and willingness to maintain a flexible work schedule in order to meet client needs.
