About the Role

We are searching for an Associate Director, Portfolio Marketing, Refractive, OSD & Cataracts to join our J&J Surgical Vision team in Irvine, CA. This role leads the strategic direction, development, and execution of U.S. marketing initiatives across the Refractive, Ocular Surface Disease (OSD), and Cataract portfolios. You will drive growth through integrated professional and consumer marketing strategies, shape product messaging and evidence dissemination, and strengthen customer engagement across key eye care segments. This position serves as a critical interface between Global Strategic Marketing, R&D, Commercial Operations, and cross-functional partners to ensure a positive customer experience, optimize portfolio performance, and influence future innovation.

This role plays a pivotal part in advancing J&J Vision’s mission to protect, correct, and enhance healthy sight for life by delivering impactful programs, tools, and insights that elevate customer experience and increase market adoption.

Responsibilities

  • Identify customer needs and provide inputs to new and existing portfolio commercial initiatives.
  • Develop and lead U.S. marketing plans for all professional and consumer marketing initiatives.
  • Create and oversee sales support tools, assets, and programs, including in-office tools, consumer campaigns, and social media efforts.
  • Drive internal cross-functional collaboration and alignment for all initiatives, programs, and assets.
  • Develop product messaging and collaborate with Medical Affairs on supporting evidence dissemination.
  • Partner with the broader U.S. Marketing team and Business Development on conference execution, booth initiatives, and associated PR/communications.
  • Establish partnerships and execute plans for portfolio collaborations with distributors or other relevant stakeholders.
  • Lead business planning, forecasting, and demand planning processes for Refractive and Ocular Surface Disease portfolios.
  • Determine integration and execution of portfolio messaging in conjunction with the broader portfolio.
  • Represent the U.S. market and help shape the OSD and Refractive portfolio for product development with key partners in Global Strategic Marketing (GSM) and R&D.
  • Engage with external partners to create valuable solutions for customers in the Cataract business.
  • Serve as the Global Innovation Marketing lead for the TearScience Portfolio, driving commercial launch excellence including positioning, messaging, customer targeting, campaign development, and launch planning.
  • Drive connectivity between JJSV and JJVC for TearScience and Refractive portfolios.
  • Lead lifecycle actions and demand planning processes by partnering with Value Stream and Supply Chain teams.
  • Manage the OSD and Refractive marketing budget, including resource allocation aligned to strategy.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required; MBA preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive business experience.
  • 5+ years of previous marketing experience.
  • Experience working with Ophthalmology and/or Optometry is preferred.
  • Experience as a people leader is preferred.
  • Previous experience launching products is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to reside locally and work out of the Irvine, CA office at least 3 days per week.
  • Travel as needed for internal and external meetings/conventions (25%).

Pay

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $122,000.00 - $212,750.00.

Schedule

  • In-office in Irvine, CA at least 3 days per week.
  • Travel required (25%).
