About the role
The Associate Director of Banquets oversees all banquet operations to ensure flawless event execution and memorable guest experiences. They are responsible for the thoughtful supervision of Banquet Captains and team members, leading with a guest-centric mindset and fostering a culture of genuine hospitality.
Responsibilities
- Thoughtful supervision of Banquet Captains and team members
- Directs activities for quality and service that embrace superior standards with warmth and comradery
- Create and manage requisitions, protect and maintain banquet equipment, ensure proper inventory return and care
- Ensure precise accounting of guest counts, billing details, and charges
- Control and drive all financial aspects of events including effective team leadership, maximizing revenue, expenditure control, and labor efficiency
- Provide input and support changes to departmental procedures, standards, and programs
- Supervise staff development, including the selection and training of new team members, evaluations, coaching, and recognition of the current team
- Ensure leaders work closely with Human Resources to obtain, train, and retain exceptional team members
- Lead with a strong ethics and ensure compliance with departmental procedures, including standards for quality, timing, attendance, and appearance
- Foster strong cross-departmental partnerships with culinary, sales, events, and operations
- Maintain pride in work areas, ensuring they are sparkling clean, safe, and well organized
- Maintain thorough knowledge of current services, amenities, activities, dining options, shops, local attractions, and historical information regarding Sea Island and the surrounding area
- Resolve service issues in a timely and positive manner, coordinating necessary efforts through the appropriate departments and following up to ensure resolution
- Lead and act with a service-first mindset, stepping beyond defined responsibilities when needed
Requirements
- Minimum of three (3) years F&B leadership experience at a high quality hotel or catering facility
- High School Diploma or equivalent credentials - College degree preferred
- Georgia law requires being over the age of 18 to dispense or serve alcoholic beverages
- TIPS (Training for Intervention Procedures) certified preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and office equipment
- Valid Driver’s license with favorable driving record
- Physical strength and stamina to perform a Food & Beverage supervisory role, maintain ongoing, prolonged physical activity throughout a scheduled day to include lifting 30+ pounds, working indoors and outdoors in varying weather, comfort with noise levels, electrical, chemical, and fume hazards with or without a reasonable accommodation
- Ability to kneel, crouch, squat, climb, stand, sit, balance, reach, stretch, bend, push, pull, and walk for prolonged periods
- Timeliness and flexibility - agree to work a flexible schedule
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal
