About the role
The YMCA is for Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility. Under the supervision of the Membership Director, this position will represent the YMCA in a manner in accordance with the mission and goals of the YMCA.
Responsibilities
- Provide excellent member service by exceeding member expectations, including being a good listener, caring about members’ well-being, and checking in on their progress.
- Take the initiative to talk with members and make them feel welcome by making eye contact, asking how they are doing, calling members by name, and smiling.
- Be on time, ready to start work at the Welcome Center at the beginning of your shift, dressed in uniform and name-tag.
- Work a Tuesday–Saturday schedule year-round and be open to substituting shifts, including opening, closing, and weekend shifts.
- Assist in meeting and exceeding monthly and annual membership sales goals.
- Conduct prospective member tours, demonstrate excellence in sales and closing techniques, and follow up with prospective members daily.
- Track sales and renewals through Excel spreadsheets in the P Drive, including sending billing statements and following up on terminations and accounts receivables.
- Train and monitor staff on Welcome Center policies, procedures, data entry systems, and customer service expectations.
- Assist in grassroots marketing, including flyering, tabling, and attending community events.
- Perform program and camp registrations, membership sign-ups, cashing out, balancing daily transactions, and maintaining an orderly workspace.
- Be ready to respond to emergencies, assemble equipment, and assist in care.
- Attend all mandatory staff meetings and work as a team player.
- Assign work duties, monitor performance, and execute basic management skills, including motivation, delegation, and corrective action.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Able to multitask (helping customers, answering phones, handling other duties).
- Able to be efficient, proficient, and knowledgeable in customer service, cashiering, and decision-making.
- Able to learn information about each department to better serve potential and current members or know where to find it.
- Able to understand and enhance relationships between the public, staff, and volunteers.
- Able to communicate effectively with adults and children alike.

Pay
$50,000 / year
