About the role
The Virginia Tech Department of Athletics is dedicated to fostering a culture that accepts, affirms, and values all individuals. The Associate Director / Creative Video collaborates with key stakeholders to create and execute video and digital content for Virginia Tech Athletics.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop and execute video and digital content strategies for Virginia Tech Athletics.
- Deliver personalized, significant, and unexpected experiences to Virginia Tech fans through video and digital content.
- Work with a team of 15-plus creative students to contribute to their development.
- Primary videographer for the Virginia Tech Women's Basketball program.
- Serve as the student assistant oversight for select sports.
- Work independently and seamlessly with separate teams from Brand Advancement, Revenue, and Productions & Multimedia.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related field with significant video experience, or a master's degree.
- Strong storytelling skills and experience.
- Ability to work in a collaborative team setting and be self-motivated and organized.
- Substantial experience producing a variety of videos including daily social videos, hype videos, recruiting content, intro videos, and promotional materials.
- Relevant experience with Adobe Creative Suite, including Premiere, After Effects, and Photoshop.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cinema-style and DSLR cameras.
- Experience with professional lighting systems.
- Ability to work outside of typical business hours as needed, potentially including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to edit according to tight deadlines, scripts, and brand guidelines.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Online portfolio/reel demonstrating expertise in shooting and editing.
- Working knowledge of NCAA rules.
- Functional knowledge of technology and industry trends.
- Experience writing scripts.
- Experience with in-venue video production.
Benefits
Virginia Tech provides a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
Pay
$52,000 annually, with a salary range of $47,000 - $57,000 based on experience.
Schedule
Full-time position, 40 hours per week, with potential for evening, weekend, and holiday work as needed.
