Associate Director, Commercial Training and Development
About the role
The Associate Director, US Commercial Training & Development – TTR Franchise is responsible for leading the commercial capability strategy for the TTR business. This role partners closely with Commercial Leadership to identify capability gaps, develop learning strategies, and implement scalable solutions that accelerate business performance and prepare the organization for future growth.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the strategic learning and capability partner to Commercial Leadership, proactively identifying capability gaps and recommending solutions aligned to business priorities.
- Develop and execute an integrated commercial capability strategy that supports business performance across the TTR Franchise.
- Translate commercial priorities into measurable learning strategies that improve execution and customer engagement.
- Build trusted partnerships with Sales Leadership, Marketing, Medical, Market Access, Commercial Operations, HR and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Lead, coach, and develop members of the Commercial Training team, creating a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability and continuous improvement.

- Provide leadership and direction for training managers and project teams while fostering professional growth and succession planning.
- Lead cross-functional project teams supporting launches, business initiatives, and capability programs.
- Design, implement, and continuously improve onboarding, POA meetings, launch readiness, leadership development, coaching, and advanced capability programs.
- Develop commercial capability frameworks and learning journeys that support long-term business objectives.
- Ensure learning experiences leverage adult learning principles, blended learning methodologies, and modern instructional design.
- Incorporate innovative learning technologies, AI-enabled learning solutions, digital learning tools, and performance support resources to improve learner engagement and effectiveness.
- Partner with field leadership to reinforce learning transfer through coaching and field observation.
- Establish meaningful learning and business performance metrics to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of capability initiatives.
- Utilize learner analytics, business performance indicators, coaching insights, field observations, and stakeholder feedback to continuously improve learning solutions.
- Develop capability assessments and competency models to identify development opportunities across commercial teams.
- Partner with Commercial Leadership to support launches, strategic initiatives, organizational change, and commercial transformation efforts.
- Lead development and facilitation of national meetings, POA meetings, new hire programs, leadership workshops, and strategic capability sessions.
- Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and scale learning processes across the organization.
- Manage external learning partners and vendors while ensuring quality, innovation, budget management, and measurable business outcomes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- 8+ years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology commercial experience.
- 5+ years of commercial training, capability development, learning and development, or sales leadership experience.
- Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional initiatives in a complex matrix organization.
- Experience managing and developing learning professionals or cross-functional project teams.
- Strong strategic thinking with the ability to align learning solutions to business priorities.
- Exceptional communication, facilitation, executive presence, and influencing skills.
- Proven ability to build trusted relationships across all organizational levels.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
Preferred
- Rare disease or specialty pharmaceutical experience.
- Commercial launch experience.
- Sales leadership or field sales experience.
- Experience developing commercial capability frameworks.
- Experience with leadership development and coaching programs.
- Experience utilizing learning analytics and business performance metrics.
- Experience implementing AI-enabled learning technologies and digital learning platforms.
- Familiarity with CRM platforms, digital adoption tools, LMS technologies, and virtual learning environments.
- Demonstrated ability to lead organizational change and capability transformation initiatives.
Pay
$174,300.00 - $235,700.00 U.S. Pay Range. This role is eligible for an annual short-term incentive award (e.g., bonus or sales incentive) and an annual long-term incentive award (e.g., equity).
