Associate Director, Center for Academic Excellence
About the role
The Center for Academic Excellence (CAE) at the United States Naval Academy seeks an Associate Director to begin as early as Fall 2026. Reporting to the Director, the Associate Director oversees the day-to-day operations of the CAE, manages staff, and ensures students receive consistent, high-quality support.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead the CAE full-time staff
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the CAE
- Manage staff schedules and coverage
- Design and manage class, review, and exam support schedules
- Lead visibility and promotion of CAE services
- Develop communication strategies to engage the Brigade and faculty
- Ensure messaging is consistent and aligned
- Collect and oversee data tracking and program assessment
- Use data to inform decisions and improvements
- Aid with budget management
- Represent the Director as needed
- Build relationships across the Yard to support CAE initiatives
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree or higher
- Minimum of three years of experience supervising staff
- Minimum two years of experience in student support services
- Experience coordinating programs, schedules, operations, or student support initiatives
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including engaging with students, faculty, and institutional stakeholders
- Experience using data, assessment, or reporting tools to evaluate program effectiveness
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, student-centered environment
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills, strengths in interpersonal relationship building and fostering collaborative communities
- Ability to work independently, responsive to emergent situations and needs, flexible in thought and action, and appreciative of innovation and creativity
Benefits
This is an onsite, gift-funded, federal excepted service position with full benefits. The position is initially for three years with the possibility of renewal based on available gift funds and performance.
Pay
- Pay Band: AD-01 - Classification 12
- Approximate Starting Salary Range: $75,000 – $105,000 annually
- Final Salary Will be determined based on:
- Experience and qualifications of the selected candidate
- Availability of funds from a gift fund (i.e., the position is supported by a designated or restricted funding source)
