Associate Development Officer

About the role

This important role has responsibility for commercial/multifamily loan production, with deal assignments consistent with their experience. With the support of the Development team, the associate will evaluate loan requests and make recommendations for financing for a wide array of rental housing projects to further Virginia Housing’s mission and strategic priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate loan requests and make recommendations for financing for a wide array of rental housing projects
  • Work closely with the Development team to ensure alignment with Virginia Housing’s mission and strategic priorities
  • Understand and apply real estate, finance, and general business acumen in loan underwriting
  • Assist in the evaluation of multifamily and commercial loan applications
  • Make recommendations for financing based on project specifics and financial projections

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Business, Finance, Economics, Mathematics or Urban Planning or equivalent work experience
  • A few years of real estate experience, preferably in the multifamily or commercial area
  • Basic understanding of real estate, finance, and general business acumen
  • A valid Driver’s License
  • Direct experience in commercial/multifamily loan underwriting with an emphasis on rent and operating expense analysis in determining loan size

Qualifications

  • Experience in multifamily or commercial loan underwriting
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Skills

  • Proficiency in real estate and finance principles
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to analyze financial data and make informed decisions
  • Knowledge of local and state housing policies and regulations

Pay

Hiring Range: $82,000-111,000
