About the Role
The Associate Development Director is responsible for the acquisition and retention of mid-tier and major gifts for The University of Kansas Health System. A key to success will be a proven ability to move prospects along the donor continuum and having excellent communication and listening skills. This position reports to the Development Director and must embrace TUKH's stated core values: excellence, compassion, diversity, innovation, integrity, and evidence-based decision making.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a team of individuals, including hospital and service line leadership, physicians, and fund development staff to support health system priorities.
- Actively participate in the discovery, cultivation, qualification, solicitation, and stewardship of mid-tier and major gift prospects/donors, including grateful patients, third-party fundraising events, corporations, and foundations.
- Assist with advisory boards and community volunteers engaged in cultivating donor support and educating about TUKHS.
- Research, prepare, and present proposals to donors.
- Assist the Development Director, Senior Development Director, and Vice President for Development with the implementation of the department’s development initiatives and long-term fundraising plans.
- Set fundraising goals and initiate donor visits and fundraising calls.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude, empathy, self-confidence, and strong listening ability.
- Deepen current donor relationships and develop new ones.
- Exhibit excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, as well as strong organization and planning skills.
- Evaluate problems, obtain information, and overcome obstacles with resourcefulness and tact.
- Make presentations, lead and participate in meetings, and communicate effectively in a leadership environment.
- Maintain a high level of discretion with confidential information.
- Update donor interactions in Raiser’s Edge and perform other computer-related tasks.
- Perform the professional, clinical, and/or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
Skills and duties may vary dependent upon your department or unit. Other duties may be assigned as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Business Management, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- 3 or more years of progressive fundraising experience.
- 1 or more years of experience working in Raiser’s Edge or a similar system.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 or more years of successful major gift fundraising experience.
