Associate Data Scientist

About the role

The System Engineering Analytics Department at MITRE is seeking a Data Scientist to apply advanced analytics to government challenges. This role combines Systems Engineering with Data Analytics to develop comprehensive data analytic pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Apply cutting-edge tools and techniques to real-world problems
• Develop and apply analytical models to sponsor challenges
• Present findings in an understandable manner for all audiences
• Work with government sponsors to understand and address their needs

Requirements

• Passionate about data analytics
• Strong problem-solving skills and curiosity
• Ability to manipulate large datasets
• Experience with analytic tools and data visualization
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills

Qualifications

• Less than 1 year of related experience with a related Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
• U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance
• Demonstrated ability to manipulate large datasets
• Experience with analytic tools such as Python, SAS, MATLAB, JavaScript, R, Java
• Data Visualization tools such as Tableau, QuickSight, PowerBI, etc.
• Ability to formulate complex algorithms and processes to solve complex data problems
• Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, and Word

Preferred Qualifications

• Candidates with a current/active US Government clearance
• Experience with databases (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, MongoDB)
• Software Development experience in a shared environment leveraging tools such as GIT
• Full-stack development experience (e.g. HTML, JS, HTML, NodeJS, SQL, Python, etc.)
