About the role

The Indiana Criminal Justice Institute (ICJI) is the State planning agency for criminal justice, juvenile justice, traffic safety, and victim services. ICJI is designated as the State Administering Agency for the distribution of federal funds, and as the State Statistical Analysis Center for research.

Responsibilities

  • Affords assistance in transferring raw data to the appropriate location for use in data analysis projects.
  • Utilizes existing documentation and guidance from senior staff to wrangle, clean, and validate agency data sources.
  • Contributes to general analysis of agency datasets.
  • Conducts data quality checks to ensure the validity and cleanliness of agency datasets prior to their use in analysis and reporting.
  • Interprets data and from multiple sources using a variety of analytical techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation to data mining, to support statistical methodologies.
  • Develops compelling data visualizations to communicate findings to target audience(s).
  • Adheres to HIPAA, PII, PHI and other state statutes concerned with protecting data confidentiality and individual privacy.

A Day In The Life: The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Affords assistance in transferring raw data to the appropriate location for use in data analysis projects.

Qualifications

  • Experience with data manipulation, including cleansing, standardizing, and transforming.
  • Knowledge of statistical software, open-source programming languages, and database querying or demonstrated ability to learn.
  • Experience with SQL, Tableau, R, Python, PowerBI, and/or ArcGIS.
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Broad knowledge of data analysis, analytics, or statistics or demonstrated ability to learn.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with multiple and fluid demands.
  • Ability to maintain effective and professional working relationships with internal and external customers.

Skills

Pay

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $55,224.00 but may be commensurate with education and work experience. Use our Compensation Calculator to view the total compensation package.

Schedule

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.
