About the role

The Associate Creative Director, Copy develops creative campaigns, provides oversight, and manages projects with assigned teams. They collaborate with copywriters and graphic designers to formulate concepts and execute designs for various visual communications and channels, including print, digital, video, and environmental. A background in B2B and experience with complex clients is required. A scientific background, such as experience in science journalism, pharma advertising, biotech writing, or life sciences copywriting, is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop concepts and collaborate with art director(s), science specialists, and account teams to produce campaign and project ideas for various clients.
  • Understand clients’ business, targets, and how CG Life can elevate their business.
  • Embrace competitive environments, copy design, and trends to create original ideas.
  • Expertly present and articulate creative copy—whether their own or a team member's—in a manner grounded in strategy.
  • Monitor and follow through on the copy of all assigned projects.
  • Deliver impactful presentations to both internal and external audiences.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of brand goals, positioning, market, and competitors.
  • Develop thoughtful and clear rationale for work and articulate it to all stakeholders.
  • Design at a high level of professionalism in a variety of styles.
  • Own timelines in conjunction with production personnel and manage reports to complete and present work on time.
  • Remain current on industry trends and technology.
  • Supervise the work of others, generally 1-2 employees at the copy supervisor and senior copywriter level or below.
  • Demonstrate keen attention to detail and timely follow-through.
  • Show passion for clients’ business and creative product.
  • Consistently deliver work on time.
  • Understand and apply brand goals, positioning, and market conditions to work.
  • Incorporate ideas and make revisions based on feedback from supervisors, account teams, and clients.
  • Work collaboratively with creative leads, account teams, and project management to deliver high-quality work.

Requirements

  • 8-10 years of related work experience in advertising, marketing, or at a pharmaceutical agency.
  • Ability to execute copy skillfully across multiple channels, including print, video, and digital (websites, online banners, social media, etc.).
  • Strong conceptual skills as demonstrated by your portfolio.
  • Ability to dive into complex science and technologies to glean key ideas and convey them to target audiences.
  • Understanding of agency and creative collaboration processes.
  • Ability to present and sell ideas to internal teams and clients.
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Understanding of and expertise in pharma copy requirements: claims, references.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat tools.

Pay

The estimated salary range for this position is $130,000 - $150,000 USD. Offers are tailored within this range based on organizational needs, internal equity, market data, geographic zone, and the candidate’s experience, education, industry knowledge, location, technical and communication skills, and other relevant factors. This position is also eligible for a discretionary bonus program.
